With the Holy Spirit of God playing such a crucial role in the history of the universe, it is vitally important to understand exactly how it works. What effect does it have? How is it obtained? How is it lost? How is it distinguished from other spirits that work in man? The answers to these questions will empower you.
Sermons
How Wise Are You—Really?
Are we wise in God’s eyes, or do we possess the wisdom of this world, which God describes as foolishness? What is true wisdom, and how does it manifest itself? How can we obtain godly wisdom? The Bible speaks of knowledge, understanding and wisdom. What is the difference? Why is it necessary that we have all three qualities, even though they do not guarantee that we will not fall away from God? What else is there to consider?
Who Will Listen?
Some people claim that God speaks to them. Some people say that they would like to speak directly to God. The real question is this, if God does speak, who will listen?
The Love of the Truth
Sometimes a deceptive idea may take root, which is derived from bits and pieces of the incomplete truth. Without a love of the truth leading us to learn more about the complete truth, we expose ourselves to the risk of being swept away by deception. Overcoming the worldly way of thinking, and actively working to build spiritual understanding is necessary if we are to be saved.
Christ’s Parables in the Book of Luke
Less than two months ago, we discussed many of the parables in the Book of Matthew. In this sermon, we will address those parables in the book of Luke, which are not addressed in the book of Matthew. They include, among many others, the parable of the good Samaritan; the rich fool; the great supper; the lost son, the unjust steward; the Pharisee and the tax collector; the minas; and of course the mostly misunderstood parable of Lazarus and the rich man.
Boldness
The Chrisitan life is not an easy life. But our attitude is paramount in how we handle situations. One of the major things that we can have is boldness. Boldness needs to be a part of how we live. The boldness of Christ should work through us strongly, allowing us to make the right choices at the right times. Choices have to be made and once we are making choices with the right type of boldness, we will do well.
The Book of 2 Thessalonians
What significance does Paul’s prophetic writing have for us today? Who is the son of perdition and the man of sin, sitting in the temple of God, claiming to be God? What is meant with “antichrist”? Are God’s people still going to face the falling away from the truth? Does the Bible teach that Christ returns twice? How does God send strong delusion?
The Giving of Comfort
The good news of the Kingdom of God is a message of comfortfor the world—it is also the sustaining hope for those called by God.
The Pre-existence of Christ
Jesus was the Word or Logos before His human birth and the conclusion from all of this Biblical evidence is clear – Jesus was not created. He existed from eternity along with God the Father. This sermon proves, with many Scriptural references, that the One Who became Jesus Christ existed from eternity.
Don’t Hold Grudges
A grudge is a heavy thing to carry. But, it appears that unfortunately, a lot of heavy things are being carried today by so many in the world and maybe by a few in the true Church of God! The greatest example of all was Jesus Christ, Who did not retaliate in any way when He was killed in the most barbarous manner imaginable. He did not bear a grudge in any way and demonstrated that there is no room for grudges and resentments in any way, and that is precisely how we should behave!
